On December 4th, 1872, the Mary Celeste, a merchant ship, was found adrift and abandoned in the Atlantic Ocean. The last entry in ​the ship’s log had been penned ten days prior. The ship’s cargo was untouched, its provisions, aplenty. The crew’s personal ​belongings lay intact. In fact, nothing seemed largely amiss aboard the ship, which was disheveled but very much still seaworthy. ​That is, apart from one leering fact.
